Horseback Riding
This Saturday we went horseback riding. It was yet another outing won through the Kadena Schilling Center (I love that place!).
We meet at the Schilling center at 8:20am to be driven up to the stables. We had the same driver who took us to the BloKarts, and one of the other couples attending had gone to the BloKarts with us too! Felt like a little "mini reunion". The other couple going lives here on Lester too- we see them all the time out walking their little Rottweiler puppy, Shisa.
It only took about 25 minutes to get up to the stables, which are located in Yotiman Village (were we had gone to the GoKarts with scouts). The Village was beautiful- and there were Shisha everywhere!
This funny guy helped point the way to the stables.

This little guy was the greeter- I think his name was Tuttles. Scruffy little thing, isn't he?
We were at the stables close to two hours. It was not really a horseback riding trip (like we thought), but more of an introduction to horses. A bit tame for me- but nice to have a chance to be around horses...I've missed them! They went over safety (how not to get kicked or stepped on), then showed us how to brush, clean their hooves, and saddle them. After they showed us what to do, we did it too.
One of our helpers showing us how to put on a bridle.
There were only three horses so the other two couples each took one and our family had the third horse. She was beautiful, but definitely the skittish one. We then got on and where lead around the riding arena. If you had ridden before you could be off the lead. We all went off line since even Matt and David have ridden before (Matt at Philmont and David went trail riding with me in Washington).
David was the first to go- got to protect the head.
Rider's Up!
After we each rode once around the arena, we got chance to walk the horses around the village.
Matt was having a tough time- not sure if he was having an allergic reaction to something or what was going on, but he could barely keep his eyes open.
David helped water the horses after we got done. There were several kitties wandering around. This little bob-tailed guy was a cutie.
Couldn't resist taking this picture...the flowers on this hibiscus were just so vivid and beautiful.
